I am delighted, on behalf of Canadians, to offer you my warmest congratulations to all of you on your selection as recipients of the International Global Energy Prize 2008 for your
efforts for the development of highly efficient energy technologies and utilities including
thosefor extracting oil from oil shale and oil sands, thus contributing to the energy saving
problem of humanity. Your efforts also remind us once again that as the world’s two
largest northern countries, Canada and Russia have much to share a thannd nowhere is
this truer than in the oil and gas sector.
