The procedure for the nomination of candidates for the Global Energy International Prize is regulated by the "Provisions on International Prize for scientific achievements in the sphere of energy".
The following persons shall have an exclusive right to nominate candidates for participation in the Prize contest:
- Nobel prize winners in the field of physics or chemistry;
- members of the Section of Physics and Engineering Problems of Power Engineering of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), including foreign members of the Section, as well as RAS members contributing to the Section’s activities;
- members of the International Prize Award Committee;
- winners of the Global Energy International Prize; and
- scientists specially invited for the purpose by the International Prize Award Committee.
Self-nomination of competitors shall not be practised.
Persons entitled to nominate and submit candidates for the contest shall send the works submitted for the Prize to the Executive Directorate of the Committee, performing on behalf of the International Prize Award Committee the function of secretariat, annually from October 1st till January 15th of the following year
Candidates for the Prize shall be nominated in strict confidentiality. Accordingly, preliminary public discussion and collective nomination of works to be submitted are not allowed. Details of works submitted for review and their authors shall not be made public or made known to the nominee.
Works shall be nominated for the Prize using the special application forms approved by the International Prize Award Committee. Application forms and other documents on candidates put forward shall be submitted to the Executive Directorate within established time limits by entitled nominators. Works that disregard the required form and term of submission shall not be considered.
